Stephen O’Rourke is Chief Development Officer for JERA Americas, the U.S. based subsidiary of Japan’s largest power and energy company, JERA, Inc. He is responsible for development of renewable and thermal power generation, low and zero carbon fuels, and attendant technologies to enable JERA’s decarbonization goals. Prior to JERA, Mr. O’Rourke spent several years, first as Head of Renewables for ReNew Power’s U.S. based subsidiary, and Co-Founder of Capitas Energy LLC, a developer of renewable energy projects. Mr. O’Rourke spent 2015 in Manila on personal sabbatical, having departed SunEdison early that year where he was Senior Vice President during its integration with MEMC Electronics and transformation to a global renewable energy company. Previously, Mr. O’Rourke served as Managing Director at Deutsche Bank Securities where he was responsible for the company’s clean energy and semiconductor capital-equipment equity research practice. Prior to Deutsche Bank, he held management and leadership positions with Piper Jaffray, Robertson Stephens and Applied Materials, Inc. Mr. O’Rourke holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and did graduate work in Nuclear Engineering with the Naval Nuclear Power School.
