Hydrogen 101:
Here's What You Need to Know
Jan 19 - Virtual Event

Virtual Fireside Chat Open to the Public

The hydrogen economy is projected to be a multi-trillion-dollar opportunity by 2050 and one of the key technologies for decarbonization. However, the lower carbon intensity solutions for hydrogen are currently in their infancy.  For instance, the installed capacity for electrolyzers is projected to increase 200x by 2030.  As the industry scales, several technologies and businesses in the hydrogen ecosystem – from production, storage and transportation to consumption will need to be developed at scale.

In this inaugural event in the Hydrogen Series at MIT CNC, Dr. Bryan Pivovar and Steve O’Rourke will provide insights into the current landscape and on the opportunities in the hydrogen sector.  Dr. Pivovar will begin his presentation with a broad overview of production technologies, DOE initiatives, and the current technology roadmaps.  Steve’s presentation will provide a broad overview of applications, with particular emphasis on hydrogen transportation, storage and project development. He will also discuss the differences and opportunities across various geographical markets.

Toward the end of the talk, the speakers will aim to cut through the noise and provide their assessment of opportunities and challenges in the burgeoning hydrogen sector.
