Ted joined Anthem in January as the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, serving as a core leader under the Digital organization.
His expertise is vital in helping Anthem explore new opportunities in Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to simplify healthcare and offer consumers more opportunities to play an active role in their health.
He is building a platform that places data and consumer needs at the core, with the goal of collaborating and unifying efforts across Anthem business units. Ted is based in Palo Alto, California, where he is establishing a best-in-class team of AI-engineers, data scientists and SMEs.

Prior to joining Anthem, Ted was Director of Research, Guttman Initiatives where he developed the Lifeguard Network continuous mobile monitoring network for chronic patient care. Before that, he served as Vice President of Development Technologies for Apple, Inc. where he established Xcode, an Integrated Development Environment, the key tool for developing applications for the Mac; the tools and runtime of Mac OS X Jaguar, Panther, Tiger and Leopard and iOS (the operating system for iPad and iPhone).

Ted also served as the JavaSoft: Chief Java Commerce Officer at Sun Microsystems, Inc., where he created and championed Java Card and all electronic commerce activities in JavaSoft. Ted is also an Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Hematology / Oncology at the University of California San Francisco and Adjunct Assistant Professor, Biomolecular Engineering at the Baskin School of Engineering, UC Santa Cruz.
