Sudhanshu Jain SB '83, SM '85

Suds Jain designed integrated circuits for 25 years. In 2008 he decided that the impending climate crisis was far more important than designing another Ethernet switch chip and he “retired” to devote himself fulltime to mitigating Climate Change. One of his activities is working on a technique to make marine clouds brighter by spraying seawater in the air (Marine Cloud Brightening).

Suds currently serves on the Santa Clara City Council and is Santa Clara’s representative to the Northern California Power Agency (NCPA). He also serves on the board of the Valley Transportation Agency (VTA).
