Sudeb Dalai BS '02

Infectious Disease Physician

Dr. Sudeb Dalai, MD PhD (BS ’02), is an Infectious Disease Physician, Virologist, and Epidemiologist at Stanford University School of Medicine and Palo Alto Medical Foundation in the SF Bay Area. Currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford, he has trained physicians/students, instructed courses, and conducted virology research in the Division of Infectious Diseases for over 17 years. Dr. Dalai has been at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic as a treating physician for patients with severe illness and public health expert. He has advised health systems, public health departments, pharmaceutical companies, and the diagnostics industry regarding the clinical features and management of COVID-19, epidemiology and projections, social/economic impacts, product development, and risk mitigation strategies. Dr. Dalai is also Medical Director at Karius, a Silicon Valley startup developing groundbreaking non-invasive genomic tests to diagnose challenging and emerging infectious diseases. Dr. Dalai completed his MD and MS at Stanford, PhD at UC Berkeley School of Public Health, Internal Medicine Residency at UCSD, and Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Stanford. He has received numerous teaching and leadership awards and research grants and has co-authored multiple publications. His work has been supported by the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Paul and Daisy Soros Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Dalai served on the MIT Corporation and is an internationally-invited speaker with guest lectures across the US/North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
