I grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from MIT in 1982 with S.B. degrees in Computer Science, Biology, and Mathematics. I received my MD degree from Brown University in 1986 and then completed my residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford in 1992. I joined the Permanente Medical Group at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Clara County in 1992 and continue practicing there to this day. I have assumed many leadership roles during my tenure at TPMG. I’m currently the Assistant Physician in Chief overseeing all of our Specialty Care Services, Perioperative Services, Gastroenterology, Physical Therapy, Cancer Care, and Innovation and Performance Improvement. I have been actively involved in the response of my medical center and our Northern California region to the COVID threat.
