Dr. Matt Barmack joined Calpine in 2009 and is currently Vice President of Market and Regulatory Policy where he focuses on market design and regulatory policy, particularly as it pertains to generation resource planning and resource adequacy. Dr. Barmack has worked on wholesale power market issues for more than 20 years. As a consultant with The Brattle Group and Analysis Group, Dr. Barmack performed economic analyses of competitive conditions and behavior in wholesale power markets. In 2006, he joined the Energy Procurement group at PG&E where he worked primarily on commercial valuation issues and market design related to resource adequacy and capacity markets. Dr. Barmack holds an AB in economics from Harvard College and a PhD in economics from MIT, class of 97.
