Jennifer Barragan, project manager within the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Framework Secretariat at the World Health Organization (WHO), has been managing international health projects for over 20 years. At WHO she currently oversees the implementation of capacity strengthening activities that aim to better prepare low- and middle-income countries to respond to an influenza pandemic. Prior to her career at WHO, she worked with the Clinton Health Access Initiative to expand health care into rural areas of Ethiopia and managed the procurement and delivery of equipment to health centres across the country. She has additionally been a biomedical flight controller in NASA’s mission control managing the health-related activities of the astronauts, and served as the lead biomedical flight controller for three early expeditions to the International Space Station.
Jennifer has a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University.
