Climate Policy: What It Needs to Be
Sep 28 - Virtual Event

Event Open to the Public

Business, industry and consumer behavior drive energy demand to create our improving quality of life while also creating the existential challenge we face: Climate Change. Leading scientists and economists worldwide, including the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and U.S. National Climate Assessment, have issued recent reports demonstrating that immediate action is needed to transform our energy ecosystem to dramatically reduce and eliminate carbon. Increasingly, understanding the impact of climate on operations, businesses are taking action to move towards efficiency, renewable energy and environmental innovation. But Climate Change requires coordinated national and global action: We need legislative and regulatory action to enact solid climate policy and incentives.

Tom Steyer has been a leading energy and environment philanthropist and activist for many years.  He is now Co-Chair of the Biden for President Campaign’s Climate Engagement Advisory Council.  In a moderated discussion, Tom will discuss Vice President Joe Biden’s newly released climate plan “Build Back Better” to create 10 million new jobs, ensure transformative business development, and spur technological innovation that will fortify the nation in the face of an ever-worsening climate crisis.
