David Lau is the Founder of Asha Tea House, a tea-centric café with three locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. After working for several years as a bioengineering consultant for cardiovascular medical device start-ups, David left the industry to pursue his own path. Inspired by the tea culture of his mother’s home country Taiwan, and with the goal of enhancing the tea-drinking experience in America, David opened Asha in Downtown Berkeley in 2012.
David travels extensively to curate a unique collection of exquisite tea from small growers in China, Japan and Taiwan, and make almost all ingredients for their specialty café beverages from scratch. Asha’s teas are available for purchase online and in-person at their three locations, which have been designed with a warm and welcoming aesthetic for all tea enthusiasts.
