Join us for a rare, behind-the-scenes look into the world of Japanese matcha! Learn about the cultivation, production, and preparation of Japanese matcha from David Lau and Diana Lui ‘06, purveyors of artisan teas and owners of Asha Tea House.
Showcasing photos from past sourcing trips, David and Diana will walk you through how matcha is transformed from leaves on a tea bush to its vibrant green powder form, including centuries-old tea farms, blind tea auctions, and expert tea tastings. The event will culminate with a whisking demo and tasting discussion, along with a Q&A so that you can find out everything you have ever wanted to know about matcha.
Join in the group tasting real-time! Purchase a matcha kit ($38) for the event, which includes:
- 30g of ceremonial matcha (approximately 15 servings)
- 1 bamboo matcha whisk
- Illustrated preparation instructions
- Coupon code for 15% discount on next tea purchase
- (optional) Ceramic matcha bowl for an additional $45
- Includes shipping & handling
Matcha kit purchases made after May 1st are not guaranteed to arrive in time for the event.
